Jon Hansen – Owner & Lead Designer
Jon Hansen has always had a deep connection to the natural world, particularly the green and growing things. His journey into the green industry began with Permaculture, where he immersed himself in the principles of this design science. He learned that every element within a landscape – plants, animals, hardscape, and even people – play a crucial role in creating a thriving ecosystem.
After completing his Permaculture Design Certificate and gaining valuable experience on a farm in West Virginia, Jon returned to Utah and secured a position at a local nursery. Each day, as new shipments of plants arrived, he would examine each one, asking, “What is this plant and why is it neat?” This insatiable curiosity and passion for plants quickly established him as the nursery’s go-to expert.
Jon excelled in various roles, including Sales Manager, Purchaser, and acting Assistant General Manager. However, his true passion remained in design. He consistently sought opportunities to collaborate with clients, providing expert guidance on plant selection for their projects. Over the past decade, his clientele has grown to include prominent figures such as House Representatives, farmers, and park officials, as well as a diverse range of contractors and homeowners. His designs have won the appreciation of both the homeowners and the installation contractors. In addition, his work has been featured in Utah’s Parade of Homes.
Beyond his professional endeavors, Jon enjoys a fulfilling personal life filled with diverse interests. He cherishes spending time with friends, attending symphony performances, engaging in leatherworking, and indulging in his love for music. And, of course, he finds immense joy in tending to his own personal “Garden of Eden”.
